Triple J's Hottest 100 Of All Time

Did you vote in Triple J's Hottest 100 of All Time? Voting closed at midnight last night and I realised at 9.30pm that I hadn't voted. Typical me.
The major prize for voting is a trip to The Reading Festival in the UK so the stakes were high!
Well I got my vote in at 11.59pm last night! There were about 9 seconds to spare...I am wondering if there may be a prize for last vote received??
This is what I came up with...it was a painstaking process:
The Beatles - Blackbird
Brand New - OK I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't
Bright Eyes - First Day of My Life
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love
The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go
The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
Elliott Smith - Memory Lane
Nirvana - Come As You Are
Weezer - El Scorcho
You Am I - Purple Sneakers
It was sooo hard to choose my favourite 10 songs EVER! I had to leave out The Doors, Wreckless Eric, Foo Fighters, The Kooks, Smashing Pumpkins, The Hold Steady...just to name a few.
Can't wait for the Reading Festival! :)

Happy Birthday Mum!

Just imagine this handsome rooster is cock-a-doodle-dooing in the tune of Happy Birthday. Yep, my mum has an unhealthy obsession with roosters. It's a little strange, but I love her anway :)

Happy Birthday x

One of those days...

Yep...it's been one of those days for me. The kind where you get stuck in ridiculous amounts of traffic, get hopelessly lost in foreign suburbs, drop your nice load of freshly washed white towels in the mud, get given the wrong coffee order, fall over and bruise your knee and get unjustified dirty looks from complete strangers.

Ok so if that's a bad day for me, I guess I shouldn't really complain! On the upside, I received a lovely package in the mail from my mum. She has been out scouting op shops for all things doily related and this is a sneak peek of the little treats she gathered for me. Stay tuned to see what cute things they get 'upcycled' into. Can't wait to get started.

I also dropped into Reverse Garbage and picked up tons of zippers and the most amazing stash of discarded upholstery fabrics, mainly from Freedom and Jimmy Possum. They are gorgeous and were destined for landfill, but now, thanks to Reverse Garbage, they will find new lives as ReJenerate handbags. Cool.

PS I do have lots of lovely new creations waiting to get uploaded into my shop, but by the time I struggled through peak hour traffic I got home too late to take any decent photos. But it won't be long!

Meat Free Monday

I'm not a huge fan of getting on my eco soap box but every now and then I have to dust it off and have a rant.
Today's rant is inspired by the McCartney clan's lauch of 'Meat Free Monday' which encourages people to have (at least) one meat free day a week to help slow climate change.
According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, livestock production is responsible for more climate-changing GHG emissions globally than transportation.
I know meat eaters hate to hear this kind of thing but it's hard to dispute so embrace your inner greenie and chow down on some veggies, grains and pulses today and every monday. It's good for ya too!
Ok that wasn't too ranty right?

More vintage doily love...

art4friends

Isn't this just beautiful? It is a Giclee fine art print by Renee Anne, the artist behind 'art4friends'. It's called 'Keep Swimming'...but maybe it should be called 'Keep Staring' because I just can't look away. I find it so calming and serene and I just love the colours.
See more details in the art4friends Etsy Shop.
I've met Renee a few times (through the awesome Leeloo community) and she is just so lovely. And she's a bit of a greenie too (this print is on bamboo paper!) which scores her a few brownie points :)
Renee has just launched her own website, so go and have a look and show some support to this talented young Aussie artist.

'Life of the Party' clutches

I have had a great response to my kiss-lock frame bridal clutches so I thought I'd see if they were a hit in the non-bridal world.
Not being one for subtlty, I have decided to use the funkiest, craziest, cutest or brightest vintage and recycled fabrics I can get my hands on.
This first one is truly mod, made from a gooorgeous 1960s upholstery fabric. See more here.

ReJenerate featured over at Heidi and Seek

Remember this gorgeous dress from Peppermint Mag's last issue? It's from awesome Melbourne label Heidi and Seek. And the best part? All of Heidi and Seek's garments are made from recycled or salvaged fabrics. Nice.

Hayley Lau, the face behind the brand, is featuring an interview with little ol' moi over on her blog. Check it out if you get a chance.

But what you should definitely do is check out Hayley's gorgeous eco wares. You can visit her etsy shop but be quick as all of her items are one-offs so blink and you might miss out.

Here is a sneak peek of a few items in her shop and some that will be released soon:

You win Mother Nature, you win...

Rainy weather always gets me a little stir-crazy. Indoor time can be a novelty...it's a great excuse for catching up on DVDs and snuggling under a doona but after a few hours, I'm ready to move on.

Yesterday I decided I'd had enough of the freezing, rainy weather stopping my daily jog so I took on Mother Nature during a break in the downfalls. Never a good plan, I should know by now that I am no match for Mother Nature.

I failed to take into consideration the enormous lentil burger I had inhaled for lunch and about half way through my run I had a killer stitch and had to stop to walk. Of course, at that point it started to pour with rain so I was left pathetically half walking, half running, looking like a drowned rat!

Today I am feeling a cold coming on and I am reminded not to mess with Mother Nature.

So I am daydreaming about suddenly being transported into the lovely court yard above with a handful of girlfriends, some cruisy tunes and a few pitchers of margaritas. Mmmmm.

This is why I love blogs...

...because you can post about anything and everything. This pics posted here are from Simply Breakfast, a blog which features nothing but the author's daily breakfasts. I like.

Rosie Hardy

Well there sure seem to be some mixed opinions running around the interweb about 18 year old British photographer/Flikr sensation, Rosie Hardy. But I think it's hard to deny that the girl's got talent, so I thought I'd share a couple of her pics with you.

Autumn...where did you go?

I mentioned a while back how much I was enjoying the progression into Autumn and how I knew I would be eating my words as soon as winter really set in. And I was right, I'm really cold. Is it summer yet?
These are a couple of pics from my parents' place and my childhood home...from slightly warmer, more autumn-y times.
And these are a couple of pics from our honeymoon. Much, much warmer times.

Plate Art

Just as I was through cramming my latest op shop find into my over-stuffed cupboard I stumbled upon this pic on the net. What a cute and clever idea! I think I will have to steal this one and start putting my plates on the walls because my cupboards are going to downright refuse any further inventory shortly.

This pic is from the house of Etsy seller, Tif Fussell who runs dottieangel. I'm also loving her kitchen nook below.

Op Shop Score...

Check out this gorgeous serving plate I picked up at Vinnies last week. As most of you have probably figured out by now, I spend an unusually large amount of time in Op Shops looking for goodies for ReJenerate, but I often find myself unable to resist picking up something for myself.

And at $15, I'm not beating myself up too much :)

Book Love....

I have been drooling over interior design books online lately. Particularly ones that have a recycled and sustainable design focus. These are two of my favourites...hopefully I will find an excuse to treat myself soon!

'Waste Not Want Not' Cushion Cover

I am loving my 'Waste Not Want Not' line so much that I have decided to extend it into homewares.
Anyone who has visited my house lately will have noticed vintage doilies are taking over! They're everywhere. My poor husband :(
So expect to see many more doily embellished items coming soon.
Check out this cushion here.

Brrrrrr...

Lots of pretty packages being sent off today. The walk to the post office was FREEZING! I am now back inside, drinking a steaming mug of tea and watching the Mr roasting pumpkin to make roast pumpkin soup. Yum.

I have listed another 'Little Splash of Vintage Clutch' that matches yesterday's listing, Slouchy Samara. After all, one must have a clutch to match one's handbag.

See more here.

Slouchy Samara

I have just created this new super slouchy, oversized handbag. I'm liking it.
This first one is called 'Slouchy Samara'. Here is her story:
"Slouchy Samara is funky, floral and feminine. Starting life as a piece of vintage upholstery fabric and some salvaged denim, Samara has been 'rejenerated' into an oversized handbag. Give Samara a chance at a new life and she will fill every day with an oversized dose of vintage chic!"

Bridesmaid Blues

I had so much fun working with a lovely American bride recently on this bridal clutch and set of coordinating bridesmaids clutches for all of her fave girls.
It's fun to know that they will be a cute detail in a gorgeous, fun and romantic wedding day.

'Waste Not Want Not' Oversized Clutch

'Waste Not, Want Not' isn't that what your mum always told you?

This is the inspiration behind my new range of oversized clutches which use vintage linens, doilies and other cute salvaged bits n pieces.

The people who 'wasted' this divine (and unused!!) vintage baby's pillow slip will certainly be left 'wanting' after they see how it has been combined with some salvaged denim and 'rejenerated' into a trendy oversized clutch.

Just don't tell mum she was right.

So over Hallmark?

Can't find a card with quite the right sentiment? All a little cheesy and cliched?

Why not grab one of these gems from Melbourne's Able & Game. Cute, quirky and original.

Visit their Madeit Store or pick one up at Leeloo.
